Fiona’s story
Fiona is Head of Quality Control, QC Department, based in Glasgow.
What do you love most about working at EBX?
We are pioneering a new field of science and medicine, and it really feels like a privilege in itself to be a part that. This also means we are very future-focussed, innovative and dynamic, which is what I enjoy most about working at EnteroBiotix. I also really like seeing all my colleagues thrive and support each other.
Tell us a bit about your role, what does a typical day look like?
My role as Head of QC is focussed on directing and materialising the requirements of the QC function to support all things testing for EBX raw materials, intermediates and finished drug products. I work cross-functionally with several other departments to ensure our patients receive safe, high-quality product and the QC team have everything they need to make that happen successfully.
What keeps you productive?
I like to set aside time to work on bigger tasks that require my uninterrupted focus at times of the day when I'm naturally most productive, which is the morning. I also like to live by ‘it always seems impossible until it’s done’!

Even our meeting room names are gut microbiome themed
How have you developed your skills through your time here?
I think it’s really important to have the humility to ask for support when needed and to always aim to assimilate all of the diverse knowledge and experience from the people you encounter on your journey
How would you describe your work in one word?
Exhilarating!
What’s your favourite memory of your time at EBX?
I really enjoyed when both Aberdeen and Glasgow teams got together at our HQ for the first in person ‘All Hands’ meeting, where we reflected on all of our accomplishments so far. We are moving at fast pace, so getting together and celebrating all of the challenges we've overcome as a group, as well as share in the excitement about what we’re set to accomplish in 2023 (and beyond!) is hugely rewarding.
